Privacy Policy (Mail Helper / Gmail Assistant)

Mail Helper (“Extension”) is a Chrome extension designed to improve Gmail productivity. We value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed, how it is used, and how it is handled.

1) Data We Process

Depending on the features you use, the Extension may process:

  • Google authorization data (OAuth token): used to access Gmail API with your permission.
  • Gmail data and metadata: such as message headers, sender/recipient fields, labels, read status, and message content when required for user-requested actions.
  • User settings: filters, automation preferences, dry-run settings, mention detection settings, and related configuration.
  • Optional integration data: Slack webhook URL or bot settings, only if you enable Slack integration.

2) Why We Process Data

Data is processed only to provide core Extension functionality, including:

  • Bulk Gmail actions (mark as read, archive, delete, star, label, etc.)
  • Filtering, mention detection, and user-configured automation
  • Storing and applying your settings
  • Optional Slack notifications, if enabled by you

3) Data Sharing

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data.
  • We do not share data for advertising purposes.
  • Data may be sent only to services required to perform requested features:
    • Google Gmail API (with your explicit authorization)
    • Slack API/Webhooks (only if you enable Slack notifications)
    • Any optional AI provider API (only if you enable and trigger those features)

4) Storage and Security

  • Settings and operational state are stored locally in the browser (e.g., chrome.storage).
  • Email content is not stored on our own servers as persistent user profiles.
  • Access tokens and configuration data are used only as needed for functionality.
  • We apply reasonable technical measures to protect processed data.

5) Permissions We Request

The Extension requests only permissions required for its single purpose:

  • identity – Google OAuth authentication
  • storage – saving user settings locally
  • alarms – scheduled automation and periodic checks
  • host permissions – Gmail API access and optional Slack endpoints when enabled

No unrelated broad permissions are intentionally requested.

6) Your Choices and Controls

You can:

  • Change or delete settings at any time
  • Disable or uninstall the Extension
  • Revoke Google account access from your Google security settings

After access is revoked or the Extension is removed, related processing stops.

7) Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be available on the Extension listing page or via the developer’s provided URL.
